This is going to sound crazy, but I think we need a national gas tax of about $3. Yep $3. It would hurt us in the pocketbook, but it would get us out of this dependence on Mid East oil. These folks driving their tank size SUV's would start driving smaller cars. This idea would spur a drive for more public transportation. The tax money from this could be use to develop hybred cars that get extremely good gas mileage. Think its a crazy idea? Most of Europe pays around 4 or 5 bucks a gallon for gas.
